01 Jul Honoring Yemoja in Us
This is the time of year for us to focus on recalling or remembering the things that have empowered us as well as the things that have disempowered us in our lives July the 7 th month and astrological sign of Cancer ushers in our spirit for healing. Yemoja/Mother of the fishes governs the part of our spirit that allows us to recall our earliest memories from within our mother’s womb.
We not only remember our mother’s voices/tones or the people that raised us but also her feelings
Yemoja is responsible for the tonal accents we have and all of our learned behaviors
If you’ve taken my class on Cosmology you will recall that the first sphere of the tree of life is undeveloped and is here to learn how to thrive in this realm
Yemoja/Auset in the Ra Um Nefer Amen’s Metu Neter we see that the part of our spirit that connects to Auset is the healing part of the womb. It’s the place where before we are born governs/controls what kind of behavior is building us. When you are in your mother’s womb you can feel and intuit what she is thinking, felling about the pregnancy and what she is feeling about her life at that time, whatever is the dominant emotion that is what dominates the pregnancy. Have you ever experienced a baby that is really just miserable, tense, cranky. I’ve seen in many cases that the behavior could be spiritually from what was happening with the parents during that time,
As you honor the Yemoja in you, give yourself permission to connect to your most sacred womb memory and the Yemoja issues – mothering, healing, nurturing, will come up during this period.
The Sun is in Cancer during this period. The herbs are spearmint, lettuce, wild lettuce, jasmine
Here are some self inquiry that could help with your healing
Ask Yourself: Why is it that I have this particular thing in my life? Recognize, claim it (acknowledge)
Why do you want to change?
Where did this memory begin in my life
My Yemonja meditation CD can be a useful tool to go into spirit for rebalancing
During diaphragmatic breathing you’ll connect to Yemonja who sits as the owner of the womb along with Oshun. You may realize some thing and behaviors you may have to readjust
The number of Yemonja is 7 and the colors are all shades of blue as well as black and crystal (form of river representation) and blue represents the ocean or sea.
Wear her colors this month, sit at any body of water to keep your energy cool and calm as you journal your new sense of clarity in a notebook
Visualize yourself having wings and embracing yourself as Obatala and remember that all things in your life are connected to a life source. Open yourself to understand that there is another way to do, be and have
Know whatever it is, I will be fine. Put the affirmation as your reality.
If connecting to the womb awaken any frightful feeling, ask yourself what is the reason you feel frightful, insecure?
Fear is brought on by what we think is our reality based on what we’ve experience as a child or choices we have made. Recognize it and replace it by hugging Obatala. Sublime love is love you feel when you see a newborn baby even if you dislike the mother.
Yemoja love unconditionally and always recognize that we are perfect even if we have made good or poor choices. Negative (Osobo/Ayewo) from Yemonja comes when you have become hot and aggressive and you don’t recognize that you must be cool and more laid back. There is no imperfection with Yemonja.
Great time to set up an altar/Sacred Space for her : Blue cloth, bowls of water, sea shells, photos of a mother and child, sea, lakes etc

During the month of July we at the Yeyefini.com and International Institute of African Studies and Knowledge, Inc family celebrate the Divine power of our mother
Yemonja is that force that ushers in healing through the tears that we shed. She is also the energy that cools the planet’s heat by the rhythmic undulation of the tides and the waning and waxing of the moon.
This is a great time to set up a sacred space in your home to assist those who may be experiencing emotional spiritual or financial challenges that may manifest as blockages. Choose the Eastern corner of your home to place your altar for spiritual issues and the North West direction for financial or physical challenges.
Put seashells, sea water, blue candles, crystals and a foto or carving of a nurturing female to the altar on top of a blue and white piece of cloth pour a libation and meditate in front of it.
This is a great time to use Yemonja CD to meditate every morning and evening for the first 21 days of the month of July. Do not be surprised if family issues surface so you can address them with tenderness, forgiveness, and compassion as Yemoja does to us. I recommend the following ceremony if you and your mom have unresolved issues (can be done for mother and offspring issue as well ).
During your Yemoja meditations visualize your mother sitting on your lap as if she was your child, then alternate the next day’s meditation of you sitting on her lap, then continue alternating each day. This is a powerful ceremony which I have used for healing issues with my own mother and my children.
After your daily meditation, set aside 10 minutes to journal the clarity that will show up in your mind, body, and spirit as inspiration and joy. For a deeper experience make a spiritual bath with Jasmin, lavender, mint leaves or essentials oils and a little efun/cascarilla. Pour the mixture over your head and body as a final wash as you say “ Love recognizes no barriers, my true self is inspired and wise”
You can also take bluing balls and add water to it, place under your bed for deeper dreams..
Be blessed and encouraged my friend during this month of July.

FOODS to cook for her altar
Anything from the sea. Cook 7 ears of corn and put molasses on it and give to Yemonja while it is hot for financial difficulty.
Parched corn – grind to a powder, add water and molasses and make balls.
Black-eyed peas – mashed to balls. She likes you to take your time. Mother of the home, Goddess of cooking. Give her things that are special. Give her something everyday telling her that these are things I want to be healed from. Build her up during this time.
