African Diaspora Reading FOr 2021

Alafia, And Welcome to 2021!

With great honor, we give you the African Diasporic reading of the year completed on January 1st, 2021, By Iyalode Yeyefini Efunbolade and priests from the International Institute of African Studies and Knowledge Inc.

The guidance for this year comes from the Sacred Odu of

Iroso Ose (Oshe)

Obara Odi Iré

Iroso Meji Aiku

Ose Odi (kotojale)

Ellioko Se (Ose)

Proverb: We have been told that the Dead is running around in circles looking for someone to grab; do not let it catch you.

Proverb-One man saves a people.

Proverb-The dog has four legs but can only take one path.

Proverb- Do not leave your way to the road

Proverb-Revenge is sweet, but it produces bitterness.

This Odu has the potential to bring great honor from Olóòkun, Shango, (Oshún)

  • The ancestors are very pleased and happy that we have come together during these unprecedented times and continued ancestors honor & reverence. The ancestors are pleased as we continue in this global pandemic and social injustice; we still find ways to draw strength and support in our global community as we continue to work together in the spirit of Unity

We must continue teaching and showing our children the beauty of our culture, skin, natural hair in all of its natural artistic expressions.

Many children of African descent will be high achievers in Science, Math, and technology.

  • When things seem challenging in our community, our follow-through, discipline, and commitment with our ancestors will help us prevail and find solutions in community and collaboration with each other.
  • When you are prepared for war, your chances of winning are greater. Do whatever is necessary to be ready for drastic challenges while others may not have the facts and are running around in chaos, fear, anticipation, or rumors
  • Every family should have a place in their home where the history of their family is shared and passed on to future generations to encourage, promote and deepen the value and strength of their family’s legacy.
  • Feeding the ancestors regularly with food and drink offerings is a must.
  • Much has changed that has impacted the collective consciousness of our country. The ancestors know, and we have proven that we can continue to come together through challenge and adhere to challenge with love, praise & Ifa’s advice.
  • There is much to gain for those that are ancestor workers, The Egungun practitioners to bring to the generations to the practices of ancestral reverence & honor. This year, go beyond holding festivals and masquerades, hold workshops and classes about the Egungun and the Egun will come to show us how to be good stewards of this planet by these efforts of bringing more educational efforts this year.
  • Place flags representing the different ancestral nations that you are from behind or on your ancestral altar.
  • Get a “Root” spiritual reading if you have not already done so to help forge a deeper ancestral connection
  • The more you bring in the ancestors in your everyday experiences and those who are leaders, the more you give ancestral education and knowledge, the more we will evolve.
  • Stay healthy, take care of ourselves, and take responsibility for our health; it is advised that everyone gets a thorough physical exam and eye exam and good care of throat area this year.
  • Create a healthy living plan that includes some daily stretching exercises; take time for this self-care so that you have the strength and resolve when you get older., Discipline brings ease
  • If you live close to or have access to the ocean, it is highly recommended that communities come together, build a raft, put different types of food, drinks, and treats on the raft, and ceremonially put the raft out to sea to honor the Egun Ancestral spirits who died in the middle passage and whose blood still runs in our veins, hopes, and dreams
  • Ceremonies to Egbe Orun (Divine comrades in Heaven) to appease Egbe spirits with fruits, cooked foods, sweets, banana, and so forth
  • Do not let the ancestors come to visit you because you owe them something
  • Take good care of the Elders, help them when in need, stay in touch and offer assistance during these challenging times.
  • When you visit the water, ocean, river, or lake, make invocations to the spirit of ancestors, and give offerings of thanksgiving
  • Do ceremonies and give offerings to the wise mothers Iyami. Give great worship to Iyami on the Full moon. Through offerings, women coming together for healing ceremonies for protection and abundance for their families
  • Be careful when you are swimming to avoid accidents
  • Bring dirt or stones from the land/country where you were born with you when you perform rituals to the ancestors to keep that national soul connection and cultural soul strength
  • Make sure that candles are safe and secure on your ancestor altars.

Do not leave unattended candles on ancestors’ altar.

  • Remember to bless your Ori/head daily with water and prayers of protection

Ori Prayer

Ori, my Inner head, my higher self, the seat of my destiny, I call on you right now to be cool, to be calm to peaceful, to be faithful to be sure I pray Ori for you to open to accept all blessings that are meant for me. Even in the midst of the collective challenge we are facing. I know that no blessing can come to me except through you. Ori, so I pray to you- to myself – to be an open landing place for my blessings.

Remove anxiety, remove fear, remove hopelessness, remove disappointment, remove sadness, remove grief, open and clear space for all that is meant to be. Ori wu! Ori mi tutu! Give thanks for my cool and open Ori. Ase!
