01 Aug August Honoring Obatala, the Father/Mother of Creation, White Cloth and Expansion
Welcome to the powerful energy of Obatala, Jupiter, number 8, expansion, believing and having peace with yourself and others.
This is my favorite month of the year, because its my birthday month as well as my 54th Orisa Anniversary Festival.
Jupiter like Obatala is the largest planet. Governs generosity, knowing your calling. By remembering who you are, you can face any and all things that seems like a challenge.
Tap in and focus to your energy of Obatala within. He is the owner of the cool, safe, brilliant, confident, all knowing essence of God that lives in you…….awaken it!
Altar for Obatala:
- Dedicate at least 8 days of wearing white clothes this month in honor of Obatala to attract its blessings, abundance and benevolence. Create a sacred space or altar for Obatala by putting a bowl of cotton on a white cloth, find 8 small stones to place in a bowl or gourd, ad a bowl of cool fresh water changed every day for meditation, add a lit white candle. Offer food and drink at least one day a week of your choice or on the sacred days of Obatala that is practiced in Ises.
By sitting this month at a sacred space dedicated to Obatala and your Ori (head) you can easily access the energy of spontaneity, benevolence, wisdom, higher mind, enthusiasm, expansion, history, optimism, flexibility, trust in spirit, generosity, opportunity for increase, idealism, loyalty, stubbornness.
There are 3 special drums sacred to the worship of Orisa Obatala. The Iya Igbin, Jagbe and Epele – only played by its priests. The food sacred to Obatala are white foods without salt, no pepper, palm oil or spicy food is cooked for Obatala. You may prepare bland foods such as white yam, grits, yam or cassava porridge oatmeal, coconut, pears, green apples, honeydew melon.
During this time of the year is a good time to have head appeasements, head feedings with coconut. Bathe with special Obatala soap. Washing our heads with cool liquid such as coconut water, omiero, milk mixed with bread, white flowers washes, putting the herb tree of life, ewedu, basil, cotton leaves, cleansings with herbs prayed over and brush yourself off. This is the time to focus on your mental health issues. Address past trauma, insecurities, be committed to resting and avoiding stressful situations that causes you nervousness and emotional imbalance.
