01 Jul AWAKEN THE GODDESS IN YOU BY HONORING YEMOJA
I am so excited that you have joined me once again! This is such a powerful time! During the month of July, we enter in the Universal cycle of Yemoja and the astrological sign of cancer. Annually, I take this time to swim into the arms and womb of the divine nurturing essence of womanhood. This is a good time to revisit some of your childhood memories that have sustained, encouraged, and supported you, but also, this can be the very thing that makes you acknowledge the need to heal some unresolved pain, disillusion and trauma that you may have been experiencing in your life. During the New Moon Yemoja Meditations can be very useful (Available for purchase on Yeyefini.com) This meditation can lovingly open the door to assist you in looking back and revisiting some of your childhood memories This will be a time to allow your spirit to guide you as you bare witness to the transformative power of Yemoja. You can choose to change things that may be holding you back from the life you desire and deserve as a child of God/ Goddess. This month, I also invite you to join me for my monthly Ask Yeyefini Show on Facebook and YouTube July11, 2021 at 7:00 PM EST We will discuss some of the ways to awaken the Goddess Yemoja within each of us. The orisha Yemoja is a very powerful nature spirit and Goddess of the living Ocean, lakes, rivers considered the Mother of All. She is the source of all the waters of the world, especially the Ogun River in Nigeria. Her name is a contraction of Yeye Omo Eja, which means “Mother Whose Children are the Fish”. As all life is thought to have begun in the sea, all life is held to have begun with Yemoja. She is motherly, strong protective and cares deeply for all of her children, comforting them and cleansing them of sorrow. She is said to be the great healing mother who heals infertility and other issues of the womb. How do we awaken Yemoja in ourselves? She comes alive in us when we realize that all women reflect each other. Our sisters are our reflection when we are at our best and worst selves. We are not our sister’s keeper, we are our sisters. A woman can be a bitch, witch or goddess depending on her level of awareness at the time. Just like the ocean flows in and out with the tides, so do women’s emotions. A woman is a bitch when she is in need of healing, love, compassion and self forgiveness. A woman is a witch when she can automatically tune into the vibration and energy of the universe and instinctively create healing ceremonies, balms, or acts of unimaginable creativity and bravery. A woman is a goddess when she knows the power of her womb-manhood and uses these powers generously to transform and heal the community and world. In honor of my mother Yemoja Ogunte/Okute, I take this time of the year to honor you with a poem “Who Is Yemoja To Me” You who gave me life when I almost didn’t make it. You who protected me from unkind women as a child and taught me how to hold my head up high You opened my eyes to the presence and love of spirit. You who gave me not 1, not 2 but 3 wonderful babies…. though the doctors said I would only have one. You who are the owner of the home and family, you have always given me many beautiful and opulent houses to make a home in You who instill in me the joy and skill of cooking You who turn enemies into allies You who gives me visions of the future many moons before they are revealed You who have brought me many students to love and who love me deeply You who makes me keep life REAL You who opens every door to every country I have ever visited or lived in You who have taught me to love myself unconditionally… In-spite of my imperfections. You who reminds me that I can be at any moment…….a witch, a bitch, or a goddess. You who always makes sure I am never without anything I really desire You who have taught me the skill of being a warrior, a mother and a good friend You who makes me help others even when I am exhausted This is who you are to me my Mother Yemonja Ogunte I am eternally grateful and watchful of your manifestations in my life. Iyalode Yeyefini Osuniohun Osasana Egbe Bukunmi Efunbolade During the month of July, I encourage you to spend a part of each day nurturing yourself as you allow the dormant energy of Yemoja to be awakened. Here are some suggestions: 1) Allow your joyful innocence to assist you in reconnecting with who you really are; God’s perfect gift to the world. Write your 8 year old self a letter describing how you feel about her, how you have forgotten about her, and how you want to bring her along on your life journey as an adult. 2) Commit to hydrating your body by drinking more water. This will allow you to feel more energized and connected to your center. 3) Commit to meditation and visualization in the morning when you rise and in the evening before you go to bed . See yourself as a child sitting on your mother’s lap in one daily meditation and then see your mother as your child. This is a powerful meditation that will aid in enhancing your compassion and unconditionally love your mother. 4) If possible, go to the ocean, collect stones, seashells an other gifts from the sea. Make a small altar that will represent your birthright and bringing forth a new perception and self acceptance of self. This is your Yemonja altar. Allow your creativity and intuition to guide you as you create your sacred space. Add to this a blue candle to be lit at meditative times. Add a bowl of water in which you will add the items you collected at the sea. If you are unable to get to the Ocean you can find stones on a hike and you may purchase seashells from a store and expose them to nature for 3 days to soak up the energy of the moon and sun. The intuitive nurturing aspects of Yemoja exist both in men and women so these activities can be done by both sexes. 5) if you have had an argument or disagreement with a loved one, family member or friend, this would be the time to send a card, call them on the phone or send an email as an attempt or way to open the door to healing the tear in your relationship. 7) Pick one day a week that you will wear blue and white in honor of Yemoja and awakening her in you. I hope you will find a new sense of who you are and whose you are as you awaken the Goddess Yemoja in you 8) avoid gossip at all cost….It is toxic energy that stains the Unaverse |
