28 Feb Blessed Month of March
This month we have an opportunity to awaken and celebrate the aspects of the Divine we know as Osun.
This energy, and all of the energies of all the Orisa abides within our consciousness. We are the physical expression on earth of it.
OSHUN-March Celebration. Oshun is the energy of spring.. new birthing of ourself. When Oshun’s energy is awakened it makes us feel like we’re in love with life.
Affirm, everyday, how great you are, compliment yourself and others.
Osun is the love that holds you, makes you compassionate, accessible, vulnerable ,willing, free flowing, transparent and like the butterfly, jumping from one flower to another.
Osun is present at all shrines, rituals and sacred spaces due to the energy of water required for transformation. She also governs the blood and circulatory system of the body.
Oshun is known in expressions of many cultures as Lakshmi, Het Heru, Venus, Caridad Del Cobre, Mama Chola, Ochun, Oshun, Osun…
She is the energy that manifest in us as imagination, compassion, creativity , joy, sweetness, love, smile, culture, music, art and of course pleasure. Oshun is a warrior Goddess when it pertains to protecting what and who she loves. Her numbers are 5, 10, & 15, 25. Her colors are yellow, pink, red, green, golden yellow and white. Most water deities are accessible at the river’s edge. Her metals are brass & gold.
When erecting a sacred space to honor her essence you can be as simple or elaborate as your heart desires.
A small table or shelf where you can meditate to her music while in meditation, libation and celebration.
Place a gold, white or yellow cloth on the table. Add jewelry, honey, mirrors, fans, river stones, cakes, sweets, perfumes, oils, and anything that will focus on your sensual and creative flow.
In some Isese Yoruba spiritual practices honey is not used at her rituals, unlike Lukumi spiritual practice where it plays an important part.
I invite you to download my Osun CD available on my website. Oshun Meditation 1, Oshun Meditation 2
Oshun Rituals:
Oshun rituals to remove envy and bring abundance:
Take 5 eggs; put honey on one, palm oil on one, cocoa butter on one, white wine on one, and wipe water on one. Place all of the eggs in a bowl, hold the bowl over your head and pray for health, love, creativity, abundance and transformation. Go into your bathroom and clean yourself from head to toe, with the egg, one at a time while continuing to pray. When finished, take the eggs and the bowl, in a bag, to the riverbank, or any flowing water stream. You may also take a brass bell and a jar of honey to offer the river. As you pour the honey into the river, continue to pray, and then slowly slide the eggs into the water allowing the current to wash them away into the river. Come home and light a small yellow candle. Light one candle per day for five days. For extra magnetism and power, bathe with Iyalode Yeyefini’s Sensual Oshun mango ginger sugar scrub during the 5 days.
For financial success: Take a pumpkin; cut off the top as if making a jack o lantern. Take all of the inside seeds and discard or plant in your yard. Pour in one small bottle of sweet wine. Clean off with silver coins and put them in the pumpkin. Write your desire on 5 eggs. Put the eggs in the pumpkin. Add 5 sprigs of parsley to the pumpkin. Put a small magnet into the pumpkin and pour honey over all of this and pray for what you want. Set a yellow 7 day candle in the middle of the pumpkin and light it. Leave in your bedroom for 5 days. After 5 days, once the candle has burned out, take and leave the pumpkin at the river’s edge. Return home and bathe with Iyalode’s Yeyefini’s Sensual Oshun Mango Ginger Sugar Scrub or make a bath with different colored flowers, a drizzle of honey and cinnamon. Pour it from your neck down.
