01 Apr Blessed New Month of April
During the Universal cycle of Aries we are being reminded to raise our endurance as we honor Ogun during these challenging times.
Our annual IIASK Ogun and Osossi Festival at Ilesa Obatala Yemoja Spiritual Temple is an opportunity to give thanks for bearing witness to how strong we are as a nation, community, individual and global citizen.
Ogun, the planet Mars and the astrological sign of Aries influences us to manifest the lack of fear, or bodily harm. Ogun’s energy is forceful, skillful, enterprising, constructive, zealous, passionate and hard working. He is motivated by situations involving challenges and even dangerous activities.
His colors are blue, purple, red , green, black, brown and all earth tones . His element is fire, his metal is Iron, knives or tools of hunting or killing.
Herbs to attract his support to you through cleansing or spiritual baths are Vencedor, Anamu, cedarwood ,pine ,tobacco, holly, Quita maldicion, Rompe Saraguey.
During this time it’s important to look at where you are and not where you think you ought to be. Our spiritual walk is not a destination but rather a journey, so be diligent, courageous and strategic like Ossosi.
If you dig your heals in and know that you have come too far to quit, then you awaken the energy of Ogun fire within that’s required for your success.
Don’t allow yourself to become tired and weary of the fight, challenges or tests in life.
This is the season to focus on where you want to be, not where you are. Don’t get stuck in a bad situation assuming its a permanent place for you.
Ogun is the energy and the center of the planet earth, which keeps the earth from floating or crashing into or out of the solar system.
That enormous magnetic pull is strong enough to fight gravity, earthquakes, storms or anything that could make the earth disappear.
Ogun energy lives inside of you. The human heart is the engine that keeps all other organs of the body alive, vibrant and energy filled. Be diligent and courageous as the heart. Know your rhythm, work continuously to support the flow of blood into all of the body, mind and spirit.
We all get tired, overwhelmed, exhausted discouraged at times. It’s normal, but there is a way to renew your strength.
By setting a sacred place in your home to honor Ogun and Ossosi/ Ochosi this month you will be receptive to his blessings and protection. By giving thanks and praises to your ancestors and Orisa you will come out stronger. A spiritual altar can be constructed in the north corner of your room or house. Add 3 stones found on the road or in the woods (wash them first), add a glass of water to the space to pour libation and a simple offering of fruits, roasted meat, roasted potatoes or yams can be an offering for his delight. You may light a green candle and meditate daily as you wake in the morning and ask him to bless your day with protection and passion for your day.
May you continue to be blessed by Ogun this month and year.
Remember you are a warrior not weakling, you are a victor not a victim. Do not allow yourself to get distracted by some of the challenging, negative, uninspiring things you may see, hear on the news and social media.
Be mindful of fighting a fight that is not worthy of your energy. Every battle is not yours to fight. Reawaken your passion, determination, raise your endurance and strength as you make new muscle for the good fight ahead.
What would your ancestor do is the question to ask yourself.
What would grandma and grandpa do is the question to ask yourself……. the answers will come very clear and easy, either through a dream, intuition or a voice in your head.
Have a powerful intentional, clear headed Month of April my friend.
