01 Nov November Newsletter – Where in the World is Yeyefini?
I don’t remember where I heard this quote “Every disappointment is God’s appointment “ Some of you who follow me on social media know that I am on vacation in East Africa and through my posts you can relate that I am on god’s appointment.
#Where in the world is Iyalode Yeyefini” has been one of my popular tags which welcomes my followers on some of the activities, places, people who add value to me and my family.
The most impactful thing that changed my outlook early on my spiritual journey of evolution, healing and self discovery was the knowledge of the power of reincarnation; and that we all choose our destinies, parents and circumstances of our lives. This knowledge allows me every day to choose joy over sadness and forgiveness over pain. Growing up poor in Panama as a child witnessing my mother’s struggle as a single mother of 3 children I often wished my life was different. In my mother’s desire to courageously improve our life, we moved from time to time from one location to another. Today I am grateful for the experiences.
I am not unique to the experience as an African descended or person of color who endured racism, sexism, male dominant cultural dogmas who has and still lives in this experience. I have been blessed over the years to have traveled to many part of the world and have seen many beautiful locations in Africa whoever this is my first time in East Africa.
Today I am in an Airbnb in the ancient city of Stone Town Tanzania where I get to live with the local residents as I connect and not compare to their daily lifestyle. Over the past 10 days I’ve experienced and enjoyed the luxury of many of the hotels, spas and restaurants, however Stone Town is the place I feel more like I am at home here in Tanzania and Zanzibar. The aroma of the local bakery downstairs, the aroma of the local spices and perfumes coming from the neighbor’s kitchens are intoxicating. The sound of the children’s chatter, and games, mothers bathing the children in the evening readying for bed, takes me back to one of my earliest memories living in Caledonia in Republic of Panama.
Over the years I am more and more grateful to God for its appointment of what I though as a child as a disappointment. I truly believe that the choices I made for this by choosing the right parents and circumstances is what gives me the love of traveling, seeing life as a constant ever flowing joyful adventure, easily making new friends, laughing, trying new foods, facing challenges head on and not getting attached to people places or things who could rob me of my joy and zest for life.
I have always and will continue to wake daily and recommit my life to the empowerment of the common man/woman and child. I intentionally commit to those who face life’s challenges, find love, power, hope, dignity, and resilience. “True revolution is found in the hearts of the people”
