30 Jan During the Month of February We Honor the Energy of Olokun and the Ancestors of the African Race
Olokun is the cradle of all bodies of water including the ocean which births all the lakes, lagoons and rivers. As such, Olokun is the owner of the mystery, knowledge and wealth housed in the deepest depths of the sea. His/Her proverb is ‘No one knows what lies at the bottom of the sea’.
Olokun, like the ocean is fluid in nature can be represented by male or female form or androgenous. It is viewed as a symbol of wisdom, physical and spiritual wealth and perseverance. Olokun can be associated with the aggressive and submissive energy of the Ocean.
Olokun represents the ocean’s ability to redeem and transform the world. He/She is responsible for our unconscious selves. Their worship and celebration are an invitation which grants us the ability to reveal the parts of ourselves which we may ignore due to the stresses of our daily lives. However, Olokun can reveal the deeper truths, that show that life is rich and abundant blessings.
This Orisha governs the racial soul of people of African descent. Olokun holds the mysteries and memory of what happened and the horror of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the effects on the African diaspora. It is therefore integral to our understanding of our history which grounds, empower and guides us into our future.
Olokun’s colors are white, silver, sea green, crystal, all shades of blue and corral.
Their numbers are 4 and 7 and it governs Monday.
During this month, we honor and remember our ancestors by calling their names, placing their photos in places of prominence, pouring a libation of water and sharing their deeds, strengths and support with our families and communities. The energy of Olokun encourages the importance of honoring our ancestors by sharing gratitude, history, tradition, optimism, strength, and wealth at a time in history where unity and support is crucially important.
This month as we dive deep into the healing water energy of Olokun, take the opportunity to organize or invite others to join in ancestor (Egun) celebrations and healing our lineages. It is vital that we come together in community, using group meditations, visualizations or other spiritual tools to create and promote peace.
Olokun’s energy can be easily accessible and awakened.
For those you who have an Olokun shrine, set up a cleansing sacred space in your home. Put a handful of grains, beans, cut up bread, rice and two eggs. Wipe yourself down with the items while continuing to hold them in your hands. As you pray ask for release of all things that no longer servs your highest and best good. Put the used ingredients in a paper bag which you will throw away in a garbage outside of your home at the end of the day once the ritual has been completed.
Here is a list of ritual, herbs, oils that can assist with accessing the powerful energy of Olokun:
Sacred Spiritual bath/rinse –
Pray, call the names of your ancestors crush and rub the leaves of fresh or dried basil, rosemary and peppermint herb together into a large container of cool water. You may also add a little gin, efun (cascarilla) to the finished mixture Pray any affirming words that come to your spirit, or read a passage from sacred texts, or chant to Olokun while preparing and bathing in the ritual The bath can be performed by soaking in a tub, or pouring it over yourself from your neck down once you have finished soaping and rinsing yourself. Light a white candle and journal your experience after the ritual.
Herbs and Oils that can be used to work with the energy of Olokun –
As we awaken the different aspects of ourselves, we may feel triggered or unusually emotional. These feelings may indicate your sprit’s seeking a way to express itself. The use of specific herbs and oils allow, Olokun to support us in balancing our energy
During this time is helps to use a diffuser to add moisture to the air due to the dryness of the winter season.
Add the following to the diffuser for use while you meditate, sleep or go about your daily activities:

4 oz. of Almond Oil
Mix items and store in a cool dark place. Add one tablespoon to your bath water during this time or whenever you feel ‘out of sorts’ and sit and chant.
Another mixture that you can use for clarity, for instance, “What would my ancestors do during this tumultuous time in the world or in my life” includes:
2 Drops of Orange Oil
2 Drops of Peppermint Oil
Add to the diffuser and this is very good for clarity
It’s important to to support your respiratory system which allows you to breathe easier (Olokun is the lungs of the world) during the winter.
The following herbs can support the pulmonary system:

Beloved Community,
The moment we’ve been preparing for is finally here — the links are now LIVE to join the Osunniyi Ire platform.

What began as a vision, a prayer, and an ancestral whisper is now an open doorway.
Osunniyi Ire is a sacred space created for those seeking an ancestral-based community — a place where remembrance becomes relationship, and relationship becomes power. This platform is for those who know that their ancestors are not gone… they are present, guiding, protecting, and calling us deeper.
Two Paths. One Ancestral Foundation.
Ancestral Veneration 101 (Beginner Course)

Off the Porch (Advanced Tier)
This is for practitioners who are ready to go deeper.
You already have your ancestral pot or shrine, or you’ve taken the foundational classes. You’re not just learning anymore—you’re practicing. This tier is about ritual performance, divination, ancestral authority, and community ritual work.

Alafia Family!
There comes a time in life when you realize you are ready to break patterns, release the weight of the past, and step into who you were truly meant to be.
That is exactly why the Self-Empowerment Intensive Experience (SEIE) exists.
This is not simply a class.
It is a rite of passage into a new level of self-awareness, spiritual grounding, and personal power.
For over 20 years, SEIE has guided adults through a profound healing and initiation process rooted in ancient African wisdom traditions, helping participants address emotional wounds, inherited family patterns, and the deep disconnection many feel from their ancestral lineage and spiritual identity.
🌿 What Self-Empowerment Truly Means
Self-empowerment is:
• Releasing fear, anger, shame, and insecurity
• Breaking cycles of self-denial and negative beliefs
• Moving beyond victimhood
• Learning how to center yourself and connect to your divine spiritual power
• Creating balance, wholeness, and peace within
Through this journey, many people begin healing emotional burdens from the past, family trauma, and inherited pain — and emerge feeling stronger, clearer, supported, and spiritually aligned.
