05 Nov Newsletter – Happy New Month of November
The month of November is a fantastic time to shift our energy from Fall to winter preparedness. The leaves are turning colors, feeling the chill in the air and the excitement for the upcoming Holiday season. This year’s month of November brings us to the excitement of voting for the new president of the USA .
Since migrating to the USA in 1962, I have had the pleasure of witnessing several elections, and each one brings with it a time of hope, anticipation, fear, and in some cases panic. The elections this year is not in my opinion who wins or loses, to me what is important is how can this wonderful country show up and show out for what its supposed to represent. Freedom, Liberty, Justice for all.
This years election brings with it a new way of being while trying to hope that you put the right paper in the box. At the end of the day the one thing that this election can remind us is that the people are going to be the ones who will act or react to the new direction we are all facing. For me its a time for me to seriously ask myself, what parts of the the new direction of this country am I prepared and ready to embark on.
Whatever will change for us , will not stop me from knowing that in the midst of all the chaos of the first 60 days of the new leader, I am going to dig deep, use all of my spiritual tools, skills, traditions and beliefs to be vigilant of my reaction to some of the challenges that perhaps may face our communities. Change is the only sure thing in life, and like trees who have adapted to the seasons changes, we too can see how to flow with the new changes. The trees that have lost their leaves, though they seem dead, they are not. They will use this season to recycle the leaves as fertilizer, send their sap deep into the roots of the tree to feed the upcoming fruit in the Spring. Lets use this season as the squirrels gathering the nuts and burying them to feed off of while they hibernate while in a dormant state till March, April and May. This is a great time to connect with your dream, aspirations, disappointments or personal silent regrets about things you want to change.
Spiritual practices such as meditation, spiritual healing circles, retreats, and small gatherings with like minded people with whom you share a common interest can be useful by elevating, sharing and helping each other regain a sense of community. This is a great time to look towards the idea of coming together to form Saturday School classes to teach our children the strength and power of community. Unlike the summer months, we will spend more time indoors because of the inclement weather so this is an opportunity to connect to each other as family and friends.
As for me, I am taking this time to cut a larger garden space on my property for the new spring garden, I plan to enlarge my herbal medicinal garden, fruit trees and vegetable gardens with hope of next years harvesting, canning, and drying my bounty. I am planning for a Saturday school where children can hopefully learn and develop skills that can help them look to a new direction to plan their careers in the future. I will be calling on some of you my friends in the Winston Salem area to help young men and women with skills such as carpentry, construction, automobile mechanic, plumbing, farming, animal husbandry, gardening, sewing, baking etc. It is time for us to get back to the skills we once used in our daily lives, instead of paying people who sometimes come from other communities, cultures and countries who are maximizing their dollars from our communities as a lucrative career. This weeks elections will give us a new lens to see our future.
We are going to be fine, as long as we continue to tap into spirt, spiritual tools, do not panic ,be patient as we transits into a different world.
Use this time to reinvent yourself by committing to your care of your Ori, Ancestors, Orisa and Community.

WE HAVE SOME AMAZING NEWS ABOUT THE TEMPLE!
Thank you to our supporters who participated in our fundraiser for the temple building. The ancestors, God and our people are good and great and kind and generous. I got good news one of the people who love the work that we are doing here at Yeyefini Balanced Living has donated to the Elija Obatala Yemoja, ministry, and International Institute of African Studies and Knowledge (IIASK) $9000 to the temple building! Thank you from the bottom of my heart my sister Keisha from Los Angeles, California.
The outer part of our temple is done. We having a new fundraiser coming soon to raise the money to do the insulation installation. It will be completed and done with your support, joy, happiness contribution. It will be $6000 to complete it and it needs to be completed for the next initiations to Babalú-Ayé by the end of December. We can do it! We can do it! We can do it!
