31 Jul Honoring the King of the White Cloth Obatala for the Month of August
Obatala connects to the part of our spirit that allows us to appreciate that all challenges, obstructions, or problems that we face are an opportunity to recognize the presence of GOD (Oludamare). Obatala is the energy in the Universe that governs the mountains and the air.
Obatala is the force of nature which represents the idea of a moral code, the obligation to do what is right. He rules the ori (head) where the conscious feeling of doing the right thing resides. It is in that moment that Obatala’s great power becomes more evident. Obatala demands and sanctions high morality. Obatala is the head and owns all the heads, he rules the head and the head rules the body. The head is the symbol of Obatala and it is God’s greatest creation. Obatala is characterized as a judge, and is the one who was picked to make right decisions. Not just because he owns the head, but because he is a calm, clear, lucid Orisa who represents the coolness of thought and rational deliberation. Obatala is linked with the symbolic meanings associated with the color white. White is associated with purity, clearness, and is symbolic of something, such as white cloth that should not be touched for fear of soiling it. Obatala is the idea of being free from spots or blemishes and free from moral impurities. Obatala shines as white and brilliant as the sun and billowing clouds. Obatala is portrayed as an old man who has seen and is on good terms with God, and emanates the glow of great wisdom, happiness, and peace within his soul. The color for Obatala is white, the numbers are 8 and 10, the metal is silver, and all days are sacred to Obatala.

A ritual on how to shift and allow divine wisdom to be exalted in you Meaningful Mondays Iyalode Yeyefini Efubolade
Obatala governs the head, the mind, and the divine energy of expansion, humility, clarity, and peace. Through rituals, the head, the perception is cleared because of the mindset shifts.
Take a coconut; paint it white by using yam flour, cornstarch, or white chalk(pray throughout the process). Hold the coconut up above your head as you ask the creator to bless, empower it, anis coconut, and allow the coconut to be a vehicle for changing your thought, perception, ideas, and concepts which may be blocking you from clarity, abundance and mental strength. Place the coconut on the top of your head and pray. Continue the prayers and affirmations while rolling the coconut in a clockwise direction around your head, face, back of neck, and front of neck. Continue the process for about 3-5 minutes and when all of your wishes and desires have been expressed, put the coconut in a bag and take it immediately to a crossroad. Remove it from the bag and break it by throwing it hard against the pavement and say, “As I break this coconut, I break negative oppressive thought, ideas, perceptions, allowing clarity, peace, success, and abundance to flow to me.” Leave the coconut there, walk away, and do not look back.

A Petition for Patience taken from Dr. Ayoka Wiles Quinones book “I hear Olofi’s Song”
Baba Obatala, I pray that I become patient. Patient with myself, patient with others. Let me be patient with the growth of my consciousness and subconscious mind. Let them come together to help me witness the fullness of who I really am; a person of peace, tranquility, understanding, and grace. Help me even when I see no other way. Help me to fully understand the depth of divine order and divine timing. Let it be through your will and grace, Obatala, that those things that I am so impatient come into fruition. I know in my rushing and my need to move things forward that I am missing the blessing for which you are preparing me. Let me be patient in the preparation for greatness and for divine will and divine order; because then and only then will I fully reap the benefits of the blessing, the lesson, and the protection you have ordained for me to experience. Baba, in gratitude, I thank you.
